Fitness influencer Gloria Zamora was shot dead in a parking lot in California.
The Instagram fitness guru, 40, has died after being shot in a parking lot outside a sushi restaurant in Fontana, California, U.S.
Her online content was focused on helping moms get fit and had over 165k followers on the platform.
The tragic incident took place over the weekend (June 21), and the star leaves behind her seven children.
The 40-year-old was on a date at the time she sustained the brutal gunshots, and her dinner companion was also tragically killed as a result.
Her date, Hector Garduno, 43, also leaves behind him four children.
The influencer’s job was to inspire women online, but it seems that she was often showing up as issues in her personal life reached breaking point.
Leading up to the heartbreaking incident, ABC News reported that she had been going through a tricky divorce.
Zamora had been trying to navigate the separation while creating her content.
Despite being transported to local hospitals after the gunshots, surgeons were unable to save the two victims.
An off-duty police officer happened to be passing by at the time of the horrific incident, and managed to shoot the suspect.
But it was later established that the shooting was more deep rooted than anyone had imagined.
The suspect, 45-year-old Tomas Albert Tamayo Lizarraga, who opened fire on Zamora and Garduno, is actually the influencer’s former husband.
He was instantly killed by the officer, but reports suggest that he had been stalking his ex-wife prior to the shooting.
Lizarraga allegedly tracked the two of them to the sushi restaurant, prior to taking their life in the parking lot.
Leaving so many children behind her, a GoFundMe page was set up to raise money for them, which has now reached over $35,000.
One of Zamora’s daughters claimed that it was her step-dad who killed her mom.
Speaking to ABC News, officer Steve Reed, of the Fontana Police Department, said: “We don’t know how he knew where she was at, but apparently, she had been at the restaurant for approximately an hour prior to the shooting.”
An off-duty officer in the area, who heard the gunfire, rushed to the scene.
Speaking about the law enforcement officer, Reed added: “Apparently, he was driving on the street outside the shopping center and heard the gunshots and saw what had happened, made a U-turn at the light, and got out of his vehicle, and confronted the suspect.”
Investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and the name of the officer who shot and killed the suspect is yet to be named.
Zamora will be remembered by those who loved her as an ‘uplifting’ presence, while Garduno was described as a ‘hardworking’ individual.
